What did Cross River and Offchain announce?
Cross River and Offchain are partnering to integrate tokenization into Cross River's lending platform. The aim is that assets originated through the platform can be tokenized from day one. The announcement came on November 3, 2026.
The design puts the token at the start of the loan's life. Assets are to be funded, held and transferred on Arbitrum One from the moment they are created. Cross River's press release says "the technology becomes part of the core lending infrastructure."
Offchain is the developer of Arbitrum. Its engineers are building alongside Cross River's team, bringing ZeroDev wallet infrastructure and Arbitrum One together in a single delivery.
When will it go live, and what has been tested?
The companies say a proof of concept is complete and production deployment is targeted for early 2027. No loan volume has been disclosed. The announcement does not say which loans will move onto Arbitrum One first.
Until production starts, this is a plan and not a live product. Our counts do not include it.
Does tokenizing loans change how Cross River lends?
According to TechFlow, borrower applications, financing and repayments will continue through the existing customer interface, backed by embedded ZeroDev wallet infrastructure. Cross River stays the regulated bank and lender. Underwriting, risk management and compliance standards do not change.
The press release also says fintechs and lending partners can access these capabilities without changing how they originate loans or serve borrowers. The change is in the record-keeping and distribution layer, not in the borrower's experience.
Why does it matter for traditional finance moving on-chain?
Most on-chain finance so far has been funds and cash instruments that already existed off-chain. Here a bank is planning to make the on-chain record the first record. The press release says the setup can open new pools of global capital, including onchain funds and international investors.
The bank has not said how much will be tokenized. This article therefore does not treat the announcement as a measure of size. It is a signal of direction from a regulated lender.
What does Arbitrum hold today in our counts?
Arbitrum is already a home for tokenized cash instruments. In our count, as of November 6, 2026, it holds the following.
| Category (our count) | On Arbitrum | Share of total |
|---|---|---|
| Tokenized U.S. Treasury funds | $57.0 million | 0.5% |
| Cash-backed dollar stablecoins | $2.66 billion | 1.0% |
The totals behind those shares are $12.32 billion for tokenized Treasuries and $256.67 billion for cash-backed dollar stablecoins. Both are as of November 6, 2026.
Four Treasury funds make up most of the Arbitrum figure. These are the Arbitrum amounts for each, as of November 6, 2026.
In stablecoins, USDC has $2.41 billion on Arbitrum. PYUSD has $195.5 million and USDG has $54.5 million. For background on BENJI's issuer, see Franklin Templeton's tokenized funds.
How do loans fit into our counts?
They do not, for now. We count tokenized U.S. Treasury funds, cash-backed dollar stablecoins and gold-backed tokens. We include only addresses the issuer publishes or confirms in writing. Counts are updated every 6 hours. See how we count.
If Cross River publishes the addresses of a tokenized loan pool after launch, we would assess it separately. Any new category would be described on its own, so it would not change the totals above.
What to watch
- Whether production starts in early 2027, as the companies target.
- Which loan types go onto Arbitrum One first, and whether the companies publish contract addresses.
- Whether on-chain funds buy the tokenized loans. Altcoin Buzz lists this as an open question.
- Changes in Arbitrum's share of our Treasury and stablecoin counts, which we update every 6 hours.
